Summary Over speeding and reckless driving has often claimed lives of innocent people.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least five people were killed in road accidents in Karachi in a span of two days.

25-year-old Ghulamullah, a student of Indus University, died on Friday when a speedy bus hit him in Patel Para area.



The driver managed to escape from the scene.

Earlier on Thursday, an overspeeding crushed four people to death at University Road. The victims included a male and three female students of Urdu University who were standing on the footpath when the bus overturned.

The driver fled from the scene and has not been arrested yet.

Road accidents have claimed 22 lives in last 10 days. Six including three students died in mishaps on University road.

Annually, more than 900 people die in 20,000 road accidents in Karachi. Majority of the victims are pillion riders and pedestrians.

Only 3200 traffic constables are present in the city which holds the movement of 32 lac vehicles on significant routes.

Super Highway, National Highway, Korangi Industrial area, Bin Korangi road, Shahrah-i-Faisal, Maripur are termed black spots due to high number of accidents.

60% of drivers are without license whereas 70% do not possess any fitness certificate

Over speeding and reckless driving has often claimed lives of innocent people. Besides this the under construction roads in the city have also added to the reasons behind the fatal accidents.
