Summary Submission from Islamabad would give rise to 'do more' mantras.

LAHORE (Daily Dunya) - While commenting on the government’s action against Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Senior journalist and analyst Salman Ghani has said that we cannot overrule intentions of Trump’s administration as Washington can equate freedom movement in Kashmir with menace of terrorism for buttressing New Delhi’s rhetoric.

He said Kashmiris’ right to self-determination cannot be linked with terrorism as United Nations (UN) have adopted 18 resolutions in which it promised to grant right to self-determination to people of occupied valley through an independent and transparent plebiscite. Moreover, any such move would not only bring negative outcomes for New Delhi but would also pose serious damage to America’s liberal and democratic values.

Though, pressure tactics maneuvers started gushing out from Washington soon after Trump’s dramatic victory over Hillary Clinton but stakeholders in Pakistan were on same table and viewed that ban could not be slapped on charity organization like Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) merely on reckless allegations, Salman Ghani added.

Questions must be pondered that can Nawaz regime withstand mounting pressure from Trump’s administration? Or a charity organization will opt to suspend its charity operations in greater interest of the country?

Hafiz Saeed, being conscious of India’s malicious desires, had imposed ban on himself in many occasions in the past. Likewise, during visits of Pakistan’s top dignities to US, Saeed usually hushed himself.

It may be recalled that national agencies have no evidence which proves Saeed is involved in any illegal or unconstitutional activity. So, the federal government would likely use its influence obliquely to curtail JuD instead of resorting to any direct action.

Keeping this scenario in mind, planners in Islamabad should ponder the fact that any action against JuD will be on India’s pressure rather than on directives of US and submission from Islamabad would give rise to ‘do more mantras’ that can create plenty of complications for Islamabad in future.
