NEW YORK (Dunya News) – The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has approved the proposal of including eight Pakistani sites having cultural and historical significance in the list of World Heritage Site.

The eight sites that were recommended by experts earlier include Central Karakoram National Park, the Juniper Forest in Ziarat, Deosai National Park, Karez System, Derawar Fort, Hingol National Park – the largest national park in the country, Kallar Kahar’s Salt Range and Nagar Parkar in Sindh.

According to the Department of Archaeology and Museum, documentation of these places will be pursued as soon as UNESCO announces the approval.

Moreover, a team of UNESCO is still waiting for Pakistani visas in order to inspect the damage that Orange Line project may have done to Shalimar Gardens and Lahore Fort.

It is feared that if the team does not visit Pakistan then these places may be eliminated from the list of World Heritage Site.
