The television channel was warned of having its license revoked in case the ban was violated.
However, the programme was still on-aired prompting Pemra to suspend channel’s transmission in some areas while it continued to be televised in several others.
“According to the order conveyed to the channel management, Mr Aamir Liaquat shall not host any programme, or appear on TV in any manner (fresh, old or repeat) including (but limited to) as a guest, analyst, reporter, actor, in audio, video beeper, promo/advertisement, of his programme or in person, in any manner whatsoever, on BOL NEWS screen with immediate effect,” Pemra stated on Thursday.
In the latest development today, Pemra has issued show-cause notice to the news channel to explain the flouting.
In the past few days, Liaquat passed objectionable remarks over several media personalities and civil society activists declaring them ‘infidels’, ‘agents of India’ and ‘enemies of Islam.’
