Summary PK-MAP leader says commission should be formed to keep a check on development funds in FATA
ISLAMABAD: (Daily Dunya) – Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PK-MAP) leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai has on Tuesday demanded a commission to keep a check on the distribution and utilization of the development funds in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
Holding a press conference at National Press Club, Achakzai said that there was no opposition in Pakistan to the disbanding of FCR, democratic reforms and construction of new schools. He said that the report regarding FATA reforms misrepresented the facts.
Achakzai said that the government must do the reforms in consultation with the people of FATA. He said that his party will announce the future line of action for FATA reforms in the conference scheduled for January 30.
“It is being falsely propagated in the world that FATA is place where only murderers and savages live. FATA is a region of patriotic Pakistanis and its people have never shied away from any sacrifice for the motherland”.
He thanked Jamiat Ulema Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl ur-Rehman for raising his voice for FATA reforms. He said that the people of FATA were not consulted for the reforms. “The government of Pakistan must convince the people of FATA that they are the real owners of their lands and the government wanted to bring them into national mainstream”, he said.
