Minor girl rape case: Sindh IG directs to arrest culprits at earliest

Summary Police have detained five suspects for interrogation.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police, AD Khawaja on Friday directed police officials to nab culprits at earliest who were involved in appalling crime of raping six-year-old mentally unstable girl in Korangi area of Karachi.

AD Khawaja was chairing meeting of police officials who were assembled for reviewing progress in the case. The meeting was attended by all officers of Malir zone including SSP Malir Anwar Rao.


Locals protest against the incident.


Reportedly, police have detained five suspects for interrogation.

Major development is being anticipated in case till evening, well-informed sources revealed.

Six-year-old Swera was found in a causeway to Korangi Industrial Area in a semi-conscious state and was brought to the emergency room of the Civil Hospital on Thursday afternoon in a serious condition.

Doctors said the culprits, in an attempt to murder her, slit her wrist and neck before throwing her into a stream in Korangi.



After successful surgery on Friday, she was shifted to intensive care unit of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (SMBB) trauma centre.

She has regained consciousness and has started eating, doctors said adding that stitches on victim’s neck will be removed within eight to ten days.
