Saudi financial crisis affected 8,000 Pakistanis, Senate told

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - At least 8, 000 Pakistanis were affected by recent wave of financial crisis in Saudi Arabia, foreign ministry informed upper house of parliament on Friday.

Reply stated that out of 2.6 million Pakistanis residing in Saudi Arabia, only 8000 were affected by recent financial crisis.

Pakistani mission in Saudi Arabia helped 2200 workers in searching new employment, facilitated 3200 in free return to home and gave legal consultation to 2100 others who were fighting cases in courts.

Pakistani mission also distributed 200 riyals per person to 401 stranded workers. Likewise, mission gave 150 riyals per person to 500 workers as food allowance.

Foreign ministry further informed the upper house that 25000 riyals were issued for stranded workers in beginning of economic crisis whereas Rs500 million were distributed among their families in Pakistan.
