ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal says utmost transparency is being ensured in all projects of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Addressing a post 6th joint cooperation committee on CPEC follow up meeting in Islamabad this morning, he said some elements are hell-bent to hamper Pakistan’s development by spreading confusion over these projects.
The Minister said the national leadership has foiled all the conspiracies by taking all the provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan into confidence.
The Minister said bulk of the investment under CPEC is in the energy sector directly by Chinese companies.
Ahsan Iqbal said infrastructure is the second most important sector of CPEC.
Referring to it he said Beijing proposes a panel of three Chinese companies and Islamabd selects the lowest bidding company.
Ahsan Iqbal on this occasion thanked Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak for his cooperation in furthering CPEC.
Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider and Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman also atted the meeting.
Later talking to media, Ahsan Iqbal said CPEC will give impetus to industrialization in Pakistan and help flourish country’s business.
He said steel, cement, and construction material industry is booming in Pakistan as a result of CPEC and providing job opportunities to Pakistani work force.
The Minister ruled out the impression that China will bring its own labor for projects under CPEC. He said Chinese work force is expensive than Pakistani workers and China is relocating its factories in want of cheap work force, which is ample in Pakistan.
He urged all the stakeholders to join forces in successful execution of CPEC, which is a game changer not only for Pakistan and China, but for the entire region. He said the government is determined for the success of CPEC to make Pakistan Asian Tiger.
To a question, Ahsan Iqbal said Indian leadership has suffered from an unfounded CPEC phobia. He said New Delhi can also be benefited from this project and Indian leadership will soon realize this fact.
Speaking on the occasion, Pervaiz Khattak said KP Government is going to organize a road-show in China in March to attract more and more investment to the province. He thanked Federal Government for its cooperation.
