ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Opposition parties have demanded the government to reverse National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Amendment Ordinance 2017 with immediate effect.
First meeting of a parliamentary committee set up to review the ordinance was convened today in the federal capital.
Chairman of the committee, Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Zahid Hamid presided over the meeting in which Vice-Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Aftab Sherpao of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) and Naveed Qamar of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) censured the ordinance.
The participants contested that there was no need of an ordinance after a parliamentary committee was established.
Zahid Hamid refused to take back the ordinance on behalf of the government however, he hinted of considering recommendations of the opposition. Farhatullah Babar of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) demanded to bring the military and judiciary in the accountability net otherwise, he said the ordinance would not be of any good.
