Maid torture matter: CJ changes case into human rights violation

Summary Supreme Court took suo moto notice of torture on little girl, Islamabad HC registrar submits report

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – An important development occurred in the matter of torture on little girl by wife of additional session judge Raja Khurran after Supreme Court of Pakistan took suo moto notice of the incident yesterday.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar challenged the matter as a human rights case on Thursday after which the registrar of High Court in Islamabad submitted the report in Supreme Court.

Deputy inspector general (DIG) and senior superintendent of police (SSP) in Islamabad have also been ordered to submit record of the girl and summon her relatives.

The report submitted by registrar contains a pardon agreement between girl’s parents and judge, police investigation, statements by additional session judge and tortured girl.

On the other hand, application submitted by social worker and lawyer Asma Jahangir makes additional session judge Raja Khurram, his wife Maheen Zafar, girl s parents, interior ministry and additional session judge Ata Rabani as party.

Application states that human rights violation occurred in little girl s case. The girl should be ordered to appear before Supreme Court while requesting formation of medical board as well as disciplinary action against additional judge Raja Khurram.
