Summary Independent candidate Altaf Shafi won the election by securing 17 votes
PASRUR (Dunya News) – Rana Shabbir, candidate for Chairman of Municipal Committee in Pasrur ‘chewed’ three votes out of fear of failure and landed up in prison for the violation on Thursday.
Shabbir who had the support of Federal Minister for Law and Justice failed to win the election against independent candidate Altaf Shafi who secured 17 votes.
However, police had to file a First Information Report (FIR) and lead the losing candidate to prison as he attempted to ‘eat’ three ballots out of fear of losing. The polling staffers intervened and forced the ballots out of his mouth.
