LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Monday suspended the 2016 policy for the admissions in medical and dental colleges, ruling that the admissions would be held under the old policy, reported Dunya News.

The case was heard by LHC’s Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza. The lawyers maintained before the judge that the new policy doesn’t let the private medical and dental colleges to directly admit the students. According to the policy, the students would have had to approach University of Health Sciences first.

The petition prayed that the policy was discriminatory and would cause problems for the students. The government lawyers failed to convince the court during the hearing due to which it suspended the policy and admitted all the petitions for hearing.

All the petitioners have been issued notices for February 16.
