ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) has acquitted a death row inmate on Monday after ten years terming the incarceration and the death sentence unjust.

Three-member bench of the SC headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa acquitted Amir in a murder case. The court stated that a case was lodged against him in 2006 in a police station in Jhelum.

Trial court had acquitted four others accused in the case while he was sentenced to death.

Objecting to trial court’s verdict, the SC rhetorically asked how four accused were freed over unreliable testimonies and one was sentenced to death.
