KARACHI (Dunya News) – Mayor Waseem Akhtar has demanded the federal government on Wednesday to remove word ‘minority’ in the Constitution of Pakistan.

The mayor of Karachi paid a visit to Medical and Dental College (MDC) and while talking to the media he said that word ‘minority’ in the constitution was wrong and should be removed.

The statement was made as Akhtar criticised the usage of ‘admissions on merit’ for MBBS and BDS admittance in the medical institution and held it synonymous to usage of ‘minority’ in constitution.

On the occasion, Waseem Akhtar demanded Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif to provide dedicated funds for education in Karachi.
Students in Karachi were awaiting premier’s efforts in this regard, he added.

Akhtar said that Karachi was running the country by contributing the biggest chunk of state tax but wa getting ‘nothing’ in return. Waseem Akhtar reiterated that Karachi would be made an exemplary city through bright policies and timely implementation.
