Summary Shah Mehmood says PTI will consider attending session to oppose bill after it is presented in NA
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has on Thursday hinted at attending the National Assembly session to oppose the bill of 24th constitutional amendment when the bill is tabled, reported Dunya News.
PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the party will consider joining the session to oppose the bill when it is presented. He, along with other party leaders, will consult party chairman Imran Khan soon to formulate a strategy on the subject.
Shah Mehmood said that it was more of a political matter than legal. He alleged that the new amendment was based on ill intention to escape accountability. He claimed that the amendment was aimed at preempting any possible decision against government by Supreme Court in the Panama Leaks case.
Qureshi said that Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) had opposed a similar bill in the past when it was presented by Farhatullah Babar. “We’ll oppose this bill on political basis, not legal”, he said.
