Gujrat: Parents of woman committing suicide, Panchayat probed

GUJRAT: (Dunya News) – A high level team has on Saturday started investigating the rape of woman on the orders of Panchayat. The woman committed suicide and the parents of the woman, along with six members of Panchayat, were probed today, reported Dunya News.

According to details, Panchayat had ordered raping of the woman in response to alleged rape by her father.  Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif had taken the notice of the incident upon Dunya News report.

Gujrat District Police Officer (DPO) Sohail Zafar Chattha said that the woman was abnormal. The parents of the woman were probed at the police station. The six members of the panchayat, along with prime accused Muhammad Boota, are also being investigated.

DPO Sohail Zafar Chattha also said that the woman was abnormal and raised questions on her own conduct. He said that the reality could be revealed only after the DNA test. The village councilor also denied being part of the panchayat.
