LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has on Thursday said that Pakistan played no role to play in global warming yet it was suffering one of the worst from it, reported Dunya News.
Talking at the ceremony of 20th anniversary of Asia Pacific Center for Environmental Sciences of Singapore’s national university, Mansoor Ali Shah said that extensive works were being carried out in Pakistan on the issue of environment and green courts had also been set up at federal and provincial levels.
LHC CJ stressed that the environment laws had gained an important status in the age of climate change and the need for climate experts had multiplied, and that was why local commissions had been appointed to deal with cases related to climate.
Justice Mansoor said that the idea of climate justice had gained credence in the recent years. He added that climate change was affecting Pakistan badly whereas Pakistan had no role to play in effecting this climate change.
