Summary Pakistan strongly opposes addition in permanent members

NEW YORK CITY (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s permanent envoy to United Nations Organisation (UNO), Maleeha Lodhi has opposed as-it-is extension in Security Council calling for addition in non-permanent member categories.

According to Lodhi, policies based on selfishness were hindering Security Council to become democratic and effective for the world. She demanded increase in number of member states through elections.

Increasing the number of member states would be equivalent to countering power-greed of some states, she said.

Pakistan strongly opposes addition in permanent members but all the states were in favour of reforms within the council, Lodhi added.
