KARACHI (Dunya News) – Asim alias Capri, a target killer arrested on Monday by Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) is revealed to have been released on bail in 2015 over lack of evidence in at least seven cases.

Asim was involved in target killing of famed qawwal, Amjad Sabri who was slain in June this year.

He was arrested by CTD earlier in the day today in Liaquatabad area and is now to face at least 28 cases over target killings and terror attacks across Karachi.

However, after his arrest today it was revealed that the culprit was not arrested for the first time today. Reportedly, he was held by martyred Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chaudhry Aslam on July 11, 2013 but he walked out of Sukkur Jail on March 20, 2015.

His arrest was reported by the martyred police officer in a press conference.

According to Sindh Government led by Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah, weapons seized in his possession today after arrest matched with bullets used in at least 28 different crime cases in different areas of Karachi.

The attacks carried out by the culprits, as suggested by forensic examination, include that on Military Police (MP) which claimed lives of two personnel.
