Summary Imran Khan announced to Tuesday to carry out a 'thanksgiving' rally
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is rallying in Parade Ground on Wednesday to celebrate admission of petition over Panama Leaks in Supreme Court (SC).
Imran Khan, Chairman of PTI had announced yesterday to not protest against alleged corruption of the government and instead lead a celebratory rally after SC’s action.
Workers of the party who clashed with police numerous times including confrontations at Swabi and Burhan interchanges returned to their hometowns on Tuesday but have again gathered in the federal capital on Wednesday for the rally.
Activists of the party had moved to Islamabad despite erection of barricades and resistance put up by law enforcement agencies over imposition of Section-144 that bars gathering of four or more people at a place.
Imran Khan has invited Sheikh Rasheed, chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) to attend the gathering in Islamabad today. It should be noted here that Rasheed expressed disappointment over the fact that Imran did not come out in his support when he stood firm against government machinery to make PTI’s protest a success.
However, Rasheed has reached the venue along with workers of AML.
Talal Chaudhry, Member of National Assembly (MNA), associated with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has criticised PTI, rhetorically questioning Imran Khan how the administration would have 1 million supporters get seated on 5,000 chairs.
Panama Papers had published a leak of documents in April this year which revealed that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif s family owned different offshore companies.
Joint opposition saw the development as evasion of taxes and wealth-stashing by premier.
