ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – An army officer Major Imran was martyred on Tuesday due to an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Wana, South Waziristan Agency, said an ISPR press release.
Six soldiers have also been injured in the roadside blast in a cordon and search operation.
"An officer, Maj Imran embraced shahadat (martyrdom) due to an IED blast during a cordon and search operation in Wana in South Waziristan agency today while six soldiers were injured," an army statement said.
Militants have been flushed out from majority of the northwestern tribal region however the operation is underway to clear the rest of the occupied area.
No group has yet claimed responsibility of the incident.
