KARACHI (Dunya News) – Three arrested leaders of coordination committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) London have been shifted to Central Jail in Karachi on Sunday.

The 30-day detention has been made under the protection of public order.

The members include Dr Hassan Zafar, Amjadullah Khan, and Kunwar Khalid Younus who were arrested outside the press club a day before by Rangers in cases pertaining to hate speech and anti-Pakistan slogans.

They were first shifted to undisclosed location before being taken to Central Jail.

On the other hand, security forces raided the residence of MQM-London Rabta Committe’s member Ashraf Noor in Shah Faisal Colony and took his brother in custody as he himself was not found there.

The members were to hold a press conference in which some lawyers were to announce their inclusion in MQM-London.

Adhoc Zonal Committee’s incharge Zafar Rajput was detained in Hyderabad alongwith two other party activists however; one of the members Rasheed Bhaiya managed to escape the scene.

In wake of the arrests, many leaders and members of interim coordination committee have started to vanish from the scene.

It was MQM London’s first ever premeditated and formal press conference since the division of the party over anti-Pakistan speech of founder, Altaf Hussain on August 22.

Over 50 different offices of MQM were either sealed or bulldozed by law enforcement agencies as a crackdown was launched following the speech that got the severest backlash to the party in its history.
