Summary Police got a tip-off that a group via Chiniot is smuggling huge cache of weapons to Lahore.

CHINIOT (Dunya News) – Police on Friday foiled a major terror bid while seizing weapons and drugs in Chiniot.



Police got a tip-off that a group was trying to smuggling huge cache of weapons from Sargodha to Lahore through Chiniot in a vehicle.

Taking action, police setup a checkpost on Sargodha road Darbar Wadi Aziz Sharif and searched the suspicious car.



At least 19 rifles, 69 pistols, 22,000 bullets and three kilograms charas were recovered from hidden sections of the vehicle.

Police after arresting the suspects Khalid and Shafiq shifted them to unknown location.

District Police Officer (DPO) Mustansar Feroz told in a press conference that the car was designed in a certain way.



The suspects were shifting the weapons and drugs from Haripur to Lahore, he added.

Two days back, heavy amount of weapons and ammunition were also recovered during Rangers’ raid in Orangi Town area of Karachi.
