KARACHI (Dunya News) – Polling for by-election in Sindh Assembly’s PS-11 Shikarpur constituency is underway on Thursday.

A total of five candidates are participating in the polls but the strong competition is expected between Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Imtiaz Ahmad Shaikh and Maulana Nasir Mehmood Soomro of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
The total number of voters in the constituency is 135435 for which 105 polling stations have been set up.
Security arrangements have also been ensured by deploying 700 Rangers and 2400 policeman on the duty.
The seat fell vacant after the resignation of Shaikh, who was appointed on a Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) ticket in the 2013. However, he joined PPP in August and left the seat.
