ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has served notice to Imran Khan on Tuesday, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after hearing a plea seeking his disqualification as a parliamentarian over alleged concealment of assets.

Counsel for the petitioner maintained before the court during hearing that PTI received funds from  prohibited sources in foreign countries.  The plea accuses Khan of lying before the commission by presenting false certificates over the funding.

The petition also stated that chief of PTI did not fall in rules stated under Article 62 and Article 63 and thus should be disqualified.

The counsel for the petitioner also claimed that between 2001 to 2013, PTI received more than $2.9 million from sources abroad. The hearing was adjourned by the election commission until December 1.

The hearing of the case has come in a day after Imran Khan announced to  shut down Islamabad  on November 2 instead of October 30, as the party suggested revising the date of protest.
