Muharram security: Pillion riding to be banned in Karachi

Summary The ban would become effective from 6am today and remain in place till October 13.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Sindh Home Department issued a notification, announcing a ban on pillion riding in Karachi from 6pm today (Saturday) till October 13, Dunya News reported.

The ban is being imposed keeping in view the law and order situation during Muharram-ul-Harram. The ban will not be applicable to women, people with disabilities, elderly people, journalists and children under the age of 12.

On the other hand Rangers have been put on high alert to maintain law and order situation in the city.

Rangers have acquired an online device connected to NADRA database to confirm identities of people during snap-checking in different areas of the metropolis.



The citizens have been advised to carry CNICs and vehicle registration documents with them.

The paramilitary Rangers have also advised the locals to immediately contact on Rangers helpline if they witness any suspicious activity around them.
