Summary Saeed 'Kalu' is the chief of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi outfit, says in-charge CTD
KARACHI (Dunya News) – In a breakthrough operation, Counter Terrorism Department has nabbed an abettor in Jinnah International Airport attack case on Friday after two years.
In-charge of Counter Terrorism Department, Raja Umar Khitab said that Saeed ‘Kalu’ was chief of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi outfit in Orangi Town and his eight accomplices were serving jail time.
At least 10 terrorists stormed airport in Karachi on June 8, 2014 who were armed with grenades, automatic weapons and suicide vests. In the following hours, at least 26 persons were killed in cold blood while over 18 were wounded.
All the ten attackers were killed by combat forces.
Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) jointly claimed the responsibility for the attack.
Pakistan Army, in leadership of Chief of the Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif launched large-scale military offensive against banned outfits in tribal areas in the days that followed.
Over 3,500 terrorists have been killed and hundreds of hideouts pounded while Operation Zarb-e-Azb has entered its final phase.
