Summary Mark Toner said that normalization of relations between Pakistan and India will benefit the region.

WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - Briefing the newsmen in Washington on Tuesday, US States Department Deputy spokesperson Mark Toner said that US want to see closer relations and a normalization of relations between Pakistan and India, Dunya News reported.

“We want to see de-escalation in the political discourse between the two countries and greater communication and coordination between them,” Mark Toner said.

Mark Toner said that de-escalation in the political discourse and normalization of relations between Pakistan and India will benefit the entire region.

The spokesperson further said that it is in both countries’ mutual interest to put aside tensions, work towards de-escalating tensions, and establish more normal channels of communication.

Mark Toner further said that Pakistan made progress on some of the terrorist groups operating within its own borders and carrying out attacks within Pakistan’s borders. He said that US also want respond from Pakistan against terrorist groups who are intent on carrying out attacks elsewhere in the region.
