KMC orders to repair building's dysfunctional CCTV cameras on emergency basis

Summary Due to inefficient maintenance work, at least eight cameras became non-functional.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Saturday has taken notice of dysfunctional CCTV cameras in office’s building.

According to details, the authority has initiated repairing work of cameras on emergency basis after report on Dunya News.

Directives to replace the cameras have also been issued from the concerning department to ensure improved security system.



As many as 16 cameras on building’s entrance and exit points, corridors and council hall were installed in the tenure of former government.

For security purpose, a monitoring room was established on second floor but due to inefficient maintenance work, at least eight cameras became non-functional.



Earlier, Karachi authorities failed to obtain CCTV record regarding martyrdom of two Pakistan Army personnel as camera became wasp nest.

The mismanagement of the city’s security department came forward when maintenance team arrived at the scene to monitor the dysfunctionality of the CCTV camera and found bees hive over it due to negligence.

It has been long since the camera stopped functioning but the authorities concerned have turned a blind eye to this.

The technical workers stated that the bees have made their nest due to lack of cleanliness of the stand.
