Case registered against 22 involved in electricity theft including KP CM's relatives

Summary Culprits attacked grid stations after cases were registered against them, PESCO officials say

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – A case regarding electricity theft was registered on Sunday against 22 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Khattak’s native village Manki Sharif  also involving some of Khattak’s close relatives, reported Dunya News.

Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) carried out an operation in the area against those involved in electricity theft and registered cases against 22 individuals including Khattak’s relatives. Secretary of the District Nazim was also involved in the crime.

PESCO officials stated that the culprits attacked grid stations after cases were registered against them, adding that KP CM Khattak was facilitating them in this regards as well.

Officials said that recoveries in the province reduced as a result of load shedding and overbilling but the provincial government was not providing the institution any sort of support regarding the matter.
