Punjab govt should appoint senior focal persons for all depts.: LHC CJ

Summary Punjab Chief Secretary assured Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of complete cooperation from provincial govt

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Mansoor Ali Shah stated on Saturday that the number of pending cases in the high court were on the rise as a result of the lack of interest of the governmental departments, adding that the Punjab government should appoint senior focal persons for all departments, reported Dunya News.

A meeting was held under the leadership of LHC CJ on Saturday. Punjab Chief Secretary, Advocate General, Punjab Home Secretary and other officers attended the meeting. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah stated that there were a number of cases which could have been resolved on the departmental level, further stating that the departments paid no interest in this regards and all the pressure gets placed on the courts.

LHC CJ stated that he did not intend to call heads of provincial departments in the court and ordered that senior focal persons be appointed for all provincial departments. He further said that special courts should also be made functional along with the district courts.

Punjab Chief Secretary assured Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of complete cooperation from the Punjab government.
