Early morning rain in Punjab cities drench low-lying areas

Summary Meteorological Department has forecast more showers in coming 24 hours

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Rainfall in different parts of Punjab welcomed the locals as they woke up and carried on with their routines while irked commuters in low-lying areas with stagnant water on streets and roads, reported Wednesday.

Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more showers in coming 24 hours.

Islamabad, Lahore Mianwali, Kallar Kahar, Sheikhupura, Jhang, Sargodha, Daska, Narowal and Pasrur among other cities witnessed rains.

Meanwhile the meteorological department has warned that heavyfalls may generate flash flooding and landslides in the vulnerable areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Among the cities mentioned above, rain-thunderstorm with isolated heavyfalls are expected at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions, while at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, eastern Balochistan (Zhob, Kalat, Naseerabad divisions), Mirpurkhas and Sukkur divisions.

Department concerned had reported on Tuesday that Monsoon low pressure area lies over northeast Rajasthan which was likely to move slightly northwestwards during next 24 hours.

According to the yesterday s forecast, strong monsoon currents were supposed to enter upper and central parts of the country.
