KARACHI (Dunya News) – Addressing a ceremony organised by industrialists at Karachi Chamber, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IG) A.D Khawaja on Monday said that police have been receiving complaints of extortion related phone calls which when traced, were mostly dialed from Afghanistan and Iran, reported Dunya News.

To deal with the issue, Sindh police contacted Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, he said. Sindh IG also said that 80,000 suspects were arrested from 2013 to the present day. The culprits will be served to their logical end if people supported and presented themselves as witnesses, he added. Unfortunately, police were specifically targeted and killed after the previous operation, A.D Khwaja said.

He also said that according to Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), mobile snatching in Karachi was reduced to by 24pc. Within 3 months, High Definition (HD) cameras will be placed across the city while within the time span of 6 months, proper receptions will be established in every police station of the city, he added.

For better results in law and order situation, Sindh police decided to step ahead for recruitments and a recommendation had been sent to Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah in this regard.
