KARACHI (Dunya News) – Giving verdict in Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s worker Waqas Shah’s murder case, anti-terrorism court has sentenced party worker named Asif Ali to death and fined him Rs 0.5 million, reported Monday.
25-year-old Shah, who worked at the information department of the party was killed during Rangers raid at MQM’s headquarters, Nine-Zero in March last year.

The paramilitary force was alleged by different party members of opening fire and killing the worker along with carrying illegal weapons inside the office only to malign the party afterwards.
Asif was detained in Shohdapur area after identification using a CCTV footage and had confessed to the charges in Rangers custody.
The murderer was the unit in-charge of Gulistan-e-Johar’s office of the political party.
During the interrogation, Asif also confessed to demanding extortion money from affluent people in name of fitrana on the occasion of Eids.
According to the Rangers, it was a malignant attempt against paramilitary force by fatally shooting a colleague that would eventually be known as a casualty done by the troops.
It is worth mentioning here that MQM’s Rabita Committee issued a statement after Asif’s arrest and claimed arrest of a worker was a cover-up act to save Rangers personnel.
Pakistan Rangers had seized illegal weapons from the party headquarters during the raid and arrested at least two accused target killers wanted in different criminal cases.
