KARACHI (Dunya News) – Rainfall in Karachi has created immense problems for the people as water allocated in several areas have still not cleared by the administration on Sunday.
Rain water is still accumulated in the areas of Gulshan Iqbal, Sarjani, Kharadar, Mehmoodabad, Maleer and Hyderi.
Inadequate arrangements led to the filling of underpasses and badly affected the traffic routine. Traffic jams were witnessed in different localities after the downpour.
The rain water also entered in the houses forcing the people to evacuate their homes.
The residents spent the night without electricity however; K-Electric claims that atleast 90 percent of the power has been restored.
Reportedly, K-Electric’s extra high tension line tripped within minutes of the rainfall. However, the K-electric authorities have claimed that over 350 power feeders have been restored but residents in different localities said that the areas were still blacked-out.
Areas that are reported without power supply include FB Area, Defence, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Orangi and Gulistan Johar among others.
Sources said that official documents and records in city court were ruined by rain water.

Rainfall that started on Friday has claimed 13 lives in different mishaps until Saturday while over 400 power feeders tripped.
Local named Haider Ali in Chishti Nagar of Orangi Town was electrocuted. 17-year-old Salman near Kala Board in Malir area, two in Khada Market of Lyari and New Karachi’s Allah Wali Chowrangi, 25-year-old Abbas in Gulistan Johar’s Qalandria Para, 18-year-old Faisal in Korangi Number Four and 25-year-old Inayat in Hussainabad and another local lost their lives.
Different roads have at least two and half feet high stagnant water there troubling commuters.
On the other hand, 72-inch water pipeline coming from Dhabeji water pump burst worsening the prevailing potable water shortage in the city.

Hyderabad and a few other cities of Sindh also witnessed electricity supply issues.
On the other hand, recently appointed Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah paid emergency visits to different localities and reviewed the issues on ground.

Sources privy to the Chief Minister House stated that Shah resented the fact that no worker of the Karachi Municipal Corporation was there on any of the roads shouldering his duties.
CM Shah ordered administration to come in action without wasting any time and clear the streets and drain the inundated roads.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of more showers in the coming hours.
