Summary Government should have cleared the difference between terrorism and jihad: CII
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal government on Tuesday excluded jihad related verses from Quranic syllabus while The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) lodged a strong protest and demanded government to back off its decision, reported Dunya News.
The CII members were with the view that jihad-related verses were not deliberately included in the curriculum. It would have been a lot better if the government had compiled Quran from CII rather than any Non-Government Organisation (NGO), the members said. They also said that rather than expelling the verses, the government should have cleared the difference between terrorism and jihad.
One member of CII was with the stance that government aimed to attain certain political goals by imposing ‘favourite’ syllabus as regular curriculum. CII on Wednesday will consider the final draft in order to formulate final recommendations.
