Summary There still are hoardings standing erect in Zamzama and other areas, the court quoted letters
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Supreme Court has summoned reports from sessions judges in a month in billboards clearance case, reported Tuesday.
Karachi Registry of the Supreme Court heard the case and cantonment authorities filed their reports.
The authorities concerned stated in reports that all billboards were cleared from the public property to which Justice Amir Hani Muslim responded that the court received around 15 to 20 complaints from locals opposing the claim.
There still are hoardings standing erect in Zamzama and other areas, the court quoted letters.
Advocate General replied that billboards in Zamzama and other areas mentioned were removed late at night at around 03:00 am.
On Justice Muslim’s question over DMC East’s report about hoardings in place in different areas, Advocate General said that it was a typing mistake which has been corrected in report that followed.
All cantonment boards and SITE association have fully complied with the court’s order whereas there are billboards in the city that are neither on public property nor on the road, the court should chalk out a policy for them as well, the Advocate General said.
Additional Attorney General replied that Shahrah-e-Faisal Cantonment, Shaheed Millat Road, Bahadurabad and billboards in all other areas have been removed.
However, the court summoned reports from sessions judges in the next hearing.
Attorney General urged the court to also order mobile companies to remove their towers to which Justice Muslim responded that billboards resist the air flow posing danger whereas towers do not block the air.
