LAHORE (Web Desk) – Angry locals blocked Sheikhupura Road in protest against alleged kidnapping of a 13-year-old boy from Mian Colony in Ferozewala area of Lahore today (Saturday), Dunya News reported.

According to witnesses, some suspects grabbed the boy and fled in a car.

On the other hand, police have claimed that the boy ran away from home after a dispute with his parents.

It may be mentioned here that an Afghan national was caught by locals hiding an unconscious kid in a gunny bag, however, police did not take any action due to lack of evidence against the suspect.

Earlier today, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan expressed shock over rampant incidents of kidnapping.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed grave concern over kidnappings of innocent children in Punjab.

“Data about these ill-fated and innocent children brings in one’s mind horrific imaginations and criminal silence and inaction of Nawaz Sharif government on this human disaster should be condemned in strongest terms,” said the PPP Chairman.

He said that this was pathetic and tragic part of the report that three children are kidnapped daily from Lahore’s Badami Bagh but Punjab government was pressurizing the parents of the abducted kids to treat them as missing children to hush up the matter.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, according to the reports, most of the kidnapped children belong to poor families which further aggrieves the concerns in the wake of use of innocent children in terrorist activities and brainwashing them into suicide-bombers.

PPP Chairman said that his Party was shaken by these reports and would take up this horrendous issue at all available forums as the PPP considers children as the future of our nation and protecting them from all the dangers was the prime responsibility of the state and the society.

Additional IG Punjab Nadeem Nawaz submitted a reported in the Supreme Court on Thursday, stating that 6793 children were abducted in different parts of Punjab in the last six years, out of which, 6654 have been recovered till now.

The police report revealed that 1808 children were kidnapped between 2015 and 2016. A total of 1715 minors have been recovered so far while investigation process to locate 93 others is underway.

The report further stated that 767 kidnapping cases were reported in the first seven months of 2016. 715 children were rescued whereas 52 cases are being investigated at the moment.
