Summary Govt shall be forced to let go stubbournness by use of public power, says Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – An important meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding the investigation of the Panama Leaks issue underwent on Thursday under the leadership of party chairman Imran Khan. It was decided in the meeting that the government shall be pressurised to investigate the matter by using public power, reported Dunya News.
Imran Khan also consulted with party leaders about organising a possible protest in Lahore after the party’s public meeting in Sialkot. Sources stated that protest movement against the government in regards to the Panama Leaks’ investigation was discussed in detail from different angles.
While addressing to the participants of the meeting, Imran Khan said that the government should stop wasting time over the Panama Leaks issue, adding that the government was working upon the policy of delaying matters. Khan stated that the government shall be forced to let go of its stubbornness with the use of public power.
PTI Chairman stated that the government humiliated the parliamentarians by making the parliamentary committee formed to formulate the Terms of References (TORs) catering the investigation of the Panama Leaks issue as ineffective.
The meeting was attended by party leaders, including Jehangir Tareen, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhary, Shafqat Mehmood and others.
While addressing the media after the meeting concluded, Khan stated that a movement shall be initiated against the Panama Leaks issue, further adding that the movement shall not cease until Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif is not held accountable regarding the Panama Leaks.
He said that the movement shall consist of various phases which shall be announced on July 20. He stated that Pakistan faced major devastation as a result of tax evasion, corruption and money laundering, further stating that PM Nawaz was involved in all three of these crimes.
“How can the PM apprehend other thieves when he does not hold himself accountable?” Khan enquired. He added that he also owned a flat and a company abroad, adding that he was ready to be held accountable according to the TORs on the basis of which PM Nawaz will be accounted. He stated that Nawaz Sharif was afraid of accountability as he was involved in wrongdoing.
While answering a question related to the funds allocated to Darul Uloom Haqqania, Khan stated that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) be enquired about the matter as the provincial government did not allocate the funds after consulting him. He said that the syllabus of some seminaries should be upgraded. “It is PTI’s policy to include students belonging to seminaries in the mainstream,” Khan said.
