Summary Rescue 1122 personnel will be on the alert even during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, says Brig. (retd.) Zia
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Rescue 1122 in Punjab on Monday was alerted ahead of possible flooding in the province as a result of Monsoon rains. 7480 officials belonging to the rescue service were deployed in all districts of the province and were provided necessary equipment in order to deal with possible inundation, reported Dunya News.
Punjab Director General (DG) Emergency Service Brigadier (retd.) Arshad Zia while giving a press briefing in the Rescue Academy, stated that contacts were established with the Meteorological department in order to effectively deal with possible flash floods.
Zia said that personnel belonging to the rescue service were given mock exercises at Jhelum River and other sensitive areas likely to be affected by flooding, in order to cater situation arising as a result of flooding in a better manner.
Punjab DG Emergency Service stated that the rescue officers shall remain alert even during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, adding that special deployments shall be made at mosques, Imam Bargahs and crowded areas during the festival.
