KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah on Saturday stated during his speech in the Sindh Assembly that he was aware of those behind the May 12, 2007 riots in Karachi. His comments created uproar in the Sindh Assembly as various Opposition members began to raise hue and cry over his remarks, reported Dunya News.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Mohammad Hussain rose from his seat after Qaim Ali Shah commented upon the May 12 unrest and began to argue vociferously. Sindh CM told Hussain to ‘calm down’ further adding that he did not name him in particular. Later, other Opposition members also began to raise their voices against Shah’s remarks, creating ruckus in the assembly.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members reacted upon Qaim Ali Shah’s comments stating that if the Chief Minister was aware of the culprits responsible for the violence that took place on May 12, 2007, then he should inform the public that why no action was taken against them.

Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani tried to pacify the agitated MQM MPAs. Qaim Ali Shah stated that grant for universities were awarded by the governor but now the government has to take care of that as well.

Sindh CM said that the provincial government was allotting plots to the deserving at Hawke’s Bay.
