ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Syed Khurshid Shah on Monday stated that Pakistan Peoples Peoples (PPP) will take final decision if negotiations with the government on the issue of terms of reference (TORs) failed.
During an informal talk with reporters at his chamber in the Parliament, Shah said that PPP does not want political of ‘roads’, however, the party can take to the streets if the matter is not resolved in the Parliament.
“The government must accept opposition’s TORs,” he added.
Earlier on Saturday, the seventh meeting of the parliamentary committee ended without any progress regarding terms of reference as deadlock persisted between the government and the joint opposition over Panama leaks probe.
The committee was formed with six members each from the government and opposition to strike consensus over TORs for probe into Panama Papers’ allegations regarding tax evasion and wealth stashing by premier and family using offshore companies.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Safdar and sons were named in the papers compiled by International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
Opposition parties, mainly Imran Khan from Tehreek-e-Insaf called for premier’s resignation stating that he had lost moral authority to lead the nation.
The Prime Minister, currently in London after his open-heart surgery, claimed his and family’s innocence in a speech in the Parliament and offered to form a committee comprising of parliamentary members to take the issue towards resolution.
