ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - A high-level delegation led by US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan has arrived in Islamabad today (Friday) to discuss the issue of drone strike in Balochistan and Pakistan‘s participation in Nuclear Suppliers Group.

US special envoy Richard Olson and Senior director for Afghanistan and Pakistan at the US National Security Council Peter Lavoy will meet civil and military leaders in Pakistan

During their stay, both officials will meet Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, National Security Advisor Nasir Janjua and Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.

This will be the first high level contact between the two countries after Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansoor was killed in a US drone attack in Balochistan last month.

Speaking to Radio Pakistan, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan would record its protest over the drone strike in Balochistan during today’s meeting with United States delegation.

He said drone strike has adversely affected peace efforts of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group on Afghanistan.

Drone strikes are a clear violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty, he reiterated.

To a question, he said there should be no discriminatory approach over granting membership of Nuclear Suppliers Group to non-NPT countries.
