Haleema murder case: Court remands crime suspect's wife in police custody till June13

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A local court in Karachi on Friday remanded Sonia in police custody till June13.

Sonia who is the wife of Rizwan was arrested by police a day before to get information about the whereabouts of Rizwan.

Rizwan, who left four-year-old Abdullah in Edhi centre on May25, is suspected to be involved in the murder of the child’s mother Haleema.

Sonia alongwith her seven-year-old daughter was presented in Judicial Magistrate South Dur-e-Shahwar Junejo’s court by the investigating officer.

Investigating officer requested the court that Sonia is to be investigated further. He told the judge that Rizwan and other suspects belong to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the hearing, Sonia was crying bitterly.

While giving her statement, she said that she know nothing about Haleema’s murder however; she helped her out of kindness.

She also said that Haleema had talked about going to Punjab after which she did not meet her again.

Sonia requested the court that her daughter should not be separated from her as she has no other relative in Karachi.

The court after hearing the arguments permitted Sonia to keep the child with her during her remand.

Police has also found Abdullah’s father, 69-year-old Chaudhry Iqbal, from Khanewal yesterday. He has expressed his willingness to take back his son.
