Summary Authorities had declared large portion of mohajir camp vulnerable to untoward incidents
BAGH (Dunya News) – Refugees in Mang Bajri camp whose houses were destroyed in landsliding three months ago are still awaiting relocation by the government, reported Tuesday.
At least 40 houses were either partially or completely destroyed owing to landsliding in February in refugee camp of Mang Bajri area where at least 3,000 persons had migrated to in 1990s due to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control by Indian forces.
The affectees were vowed to be helped by the government after the natural catastrophe. However, the migrants are still awaiting government’s help.
50-year-old Sakhawat Bibi has started to make her old house habitable, which was declared dangerous to live in by the authorities.
Authorities had declared large portion of mohajir camp vulnerable to untoward incidents in the future and had advised the locals to migrate.
Other camps established for the persons are Chattar No 2 and Huda Bari Camp. However, there are around 179 families, according to the government that do not reside in the camps and live with their relatives.
Details provided by the government show that 227 families consisting of 1,310 persons reside in Chattar No 2 while 316 families with 1,849 persons reside in Mang Bajri.
On the other hand, around 20 camps were established in Muzaffarabad and around two in Kotli.
The details were updated in 2010 by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government.
