Summary Three alleged terrorists were killed last week
PESHAWAR (Dunya News/AFP) – Three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel are reported martyred after unidentified motorcyclists opened fire in Qazi Killay area, reported Wednesday.
The personnel were riding a department’s vehicle to work when armed men targeted them near Patang Chowk.
Two security personnel embraced martyrdom on the spot while one succumbed to wounds on way to the hospital. Bodies were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital while forces circle the area and launched a search operation.
Three alleged terrorists were killed last week as they rode a motorcycle to Kafoar Dheri area of Peshawar from Khyber Agency and a suicide vest exploded prematurely.
Cantonment Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kashif Zulfiqar said that two of the terrorists look like foreigners while one seemed local. All of them were equipped with suicide vests, automatic weapons and hand grenades.
Police defused a jacket fitted on body of a second bomber and recovered a Kalashnikov rifle, eight hand grenades and hundreds of live bullets.
The incident took place a day after a policeman was martyred and nine sustained in twin blasts in Peshawar’s Mathra area.
Police stated that unidentified men had placed improvised explosive devices (IED) near Professor Dr Akbar’s residence.
As soon as anti-polio workers reached the site, explosion took place and injured two people.
Police and Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) reached the scene and began collecting the evidence.
The second bomb went off when BDU was inspecting the area injuring eight people including a cop and an Edhi worker. One of the policemen succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.
Peshawar is the gateway to the restive tribal areas where the military has been battling Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked militants for over a decade.
