DADU (Dunya News) – Legal action has been taken against police officials on Saturday over Dunya News report for imprisoning a local for over a year after wrongly dubbing him as a suspicious foreigner.

Hyderabad Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Khadim Hussain Rind issued show-cause notices to Dadu A-section Station House Officer (SHO) Suleman Bhutto and investigation officer assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Ghulam Sarwar Soomro.

The development came over an issue reported by Dunya News in which a local named, Muhammad Asad was incarcerated after being falsely dubbed as a suspicious foreign citizen in Sindh s district.

The Deputy Inspector General has summoned replies from the SHO and the ASI within a week.

Sindh Police had probed into the issue earlier and set-up an inquiry committee whose report declared Asad innocent. A copy of the report was sent to the victimized family.

The inquiry committee recommended the authorities concerned to order Asad’s release without any delay and apprehend the officials.

However, a report in the matter will be presented before a court on May 24.
