Nisar informs US Ambassador about Pakistan's reservations over F-16s sale stop

Summary Nisar met with Richard Olson and David Hale in the federal capital

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has met with United States (US) special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard G Olson and Ambassador David Hale on Thursday.

Nisar informed David Hale about Pakistan’s reservations over halt to sale of eight F-16s to Pakistan by the United States Congress. The two sides agreed on furthering the Afghan reconciliation process for regional betterment.

The Interior Minister discussed bilateral terms and matters of mutual importance with the United States representatives.

The Interior Minister cleared that Pakistan wants to solve all the outstanding issues through talks given that the country’s sovereignty remains intact.

The special envoy to Afghanistan said that the United States government wants to progressively stretch terms with Pakistan despite few issues. Olson also lauded Pakistan government’s efforts in Afghan reconciliation.

United States was set to sell eight F-16s Lockheed Martin to Pakistan when Congress halted the sale. United States was to bear over 50 percent expenses under aid to Pakistan.
