Summary Zaki was murdered on Saturday while he was visiting a hotel in Karachi
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The funeral of slain activist Khurram Zaki was held outside Chief Minster (CM) House, Karachi, and was attended by a large number of people belonging to different walks of life, reported Dunya News on Sunday.
In wake of the protest organised over his murder, police sealed all the routes towards CM House by placing blockades and tightening the security. The road going to Sadar from MA Jinnah Road has also been shut down. Zaki s family members tried to remove the blockades in the area that resulted in grappling between the policemen and the individuals who were there to attend Zaki s funeral.
The rally of his funeral began its journey from Ancholi and from there onwards headed to Ayesha Manzil, Bahadurabad, Metropole until reaching its final destination. The participants had to go towards Shaheen Complex from Fawara Chowk on the account of the road being blocked.
Zaki s murder has been registered in the Sir Syed police station against unidentifiied culprits, it has been mentioned in the case, that has been numbered 2016/126 by the police, that Zaki was murdered at the behest of Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqui.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders Dr Farooq Sattar and Amir Khan also participated in the funeral.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari while condemning the incident and expressing sympathy with the victim s relatives, ordered immediate arrest of the culprits.
Zaki was shot dead on Saturday in North Karachi by unknown armed assailants as they opened fire on a hotel that Zaki was visiting. Two people were also injured in the incident.

Forensic teams reached the crime scene and collected evidence from the area.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central said that 19 bullet shells of a 9mm pistol have been recovered from the crime scene. Meanwhile an investigation of the incident has been started.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen(MWM) and other political and religious parties have also condemned the incident.
