Summary The issue of drugs being recovered from prisoners under the eye of police has raised new questions.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab’s police stations have apparently been converted into drug dens, where police officers have been busy sending the ‘goods’ into the jails through prisoners. Despite illicit drugs such as heroin and ‘charas’ being found in only a few days from 81 prisoners of Lahore’s District Jail when they were searched after their hearing, police officials remain oblivious to the matter.

According to the details, drugs were also recovered from 17 prisoners coming from police stations.

The issue of drugs being recovered from prisoners under the eye of police has raised new questions.

Upon inquiring, the perpetrators have laid the blame on police officers. A report by the prisons department has also exposed the matter.

Inspector General (IG) Prisons Mian Nazir Farooq also declared the issue as disappointing. He added that efforts for curbing the drug problem with help of police are underway as well.
